The Firemen ensure public rescue technical interventions such as:

• the technical rescue work in the event of fires, sudden or threatening structural collapse, landslides, floods, or other public calamities;
• the technical work to contrast the risks deriving from the use of nuclear energy and the use of bacteriological, chemical and radiological substances.

Fire prevention is the function of pre-eminent public interest aimed at achieving, according to uniform application criteria on the national territory, the objectives of safety of human life, safety of people and protection of goods and the environment through the promotion, study, preparation and testing of rules, measures, provisions, measures and methods of action intended to avoid the onset of a fire and the events connected to it or to limit its consequences. It is carried out in every area characterized by exposure to the risk of fire, including in the areas of safety in the workplace, the control of the dangers of major accidents associated with certain hazardous substances, energy, protection from ionizing radiation, products from construction.
